W. Michael Burnham, II
Michael Burnham is a life-long resident of south Georgia’s Southern Judicial Circuit. He started his career with Roger J. Dodd, his professional mentor and former high-school football coach, on the Monday morning following his high school graduation in 1996. Beginning as an errand runner, he worked his way through college and law school at Mr. Dodd’s firm and was promoted to the firm’s lead investigator prior to law school, continued his work with the firm as a law clerk while attending law school, and became an associate after graduating from law school. He was officially named Mr. Dodd’s partner in 2008.
Mr. Burnham earned his Bachelor of Arts in English from Valdosta State University in 2002 and his Juris Doctor from Samford University’s Cumberland School of Law in Birmingham, AL in 2007. He has served as a consultant on a myriad of cases, has been called upon to act as a Special Master on numerous occasions, and has negotiated, mediated, settled and tried some of the most difficult and complex cases in south Georgia.
Mr. Burnham attended the nationally recognized and prestigious National Criminal Defense College (NCDC) at Mercer Law School in Macon, GA. He is certified in standardized field sobriety testing under the 2006, 2013 and 2018 National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) training manuals, NHTSA’s Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement (ARIDE) course, and Georgia’s Intoxilyzer 5000 and 9000. Well regarded by both his local and statewide colleagues, Mr. Burnham has served as President of the Valdosta Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (VACDL) and regional Vice President of the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (GACDL).He is a trained and skilled civil mediator, arbitrator, and domestic relations mediator who is regularly sought after to assist in high conflict divorce and custody cases.
In addition to his criminal defense and domestic relations work, Mr. Burnham has also assisted the firm’s personal injury clients in recovering millions of dollars throughout his career of handling medical malpractice cases, 18-wheeler trucking cases, automobile collision cases, products liability cases, slip/trip and fall cases, dog bite injuries and other tort related matters.
